I read an inspiring poem today in Poetry Magazine called "Meditation on a Grapefruit." The poem's by Craig Arnold and definitely worth a read. Here's the link: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/archive/poem.html?id=237746
In the spirit of Arnold, I think it might be a fun exercise to a write a poem entitled, "Meditation on a ___________."
Meditation on a Misplaced Textbook
Meditation on a Shoplifted Pencil Case
Meditation on a Fish Tank
What I like about Arnold's poem is that captures how ordinary rituals can sustain us through the "agitations of the day." I think it's true that when we focus on the small things, the more daunting questions of life seem to loosen their hold.
