235) the golden rules of writing

the literary life 3/30/10

I need to write today. This morning, I wrote a page long journal entry, but it was mostly a non-sensical rant about oranges. It's so easy to let three days go by without transforming reality through the act of writing poetry. I miss writing as soon as I stop doing it.

On a positive note, I sent out some poetry submissions this past weekend. It felt good to DO something practical. Now the waiting game begins. In the meantime, I need to stay with the page.

An inspirational/pragmatic quote on writing:

"The Six Golden Rules of Writing:
Read, read, read, and write, write, write."
~Ernest Gaines~
